I was surprised today. I was sitting in on an interview when the man sitting across from me said “Oh, I love WordPress.”
As all of you know by now, I am excitable. I got excited and geeked out about it for about thirty seconds before I recognized a vaguely deer-in-the-headlights look.
A familiar look, but only vaguely there. I am sure he was a WP expert, but I’m also sure that I scared him.
How many of you work in a place where you primarily modify WP themes for your clients?
WordPress KC will be having a casual MeetUp this Friday!
It’s partially to get together and chat, partially to celebrate WordCampKC.
6:00pm at Tomfooleries on the Country Club Plaza for Happy Hour – the party will be seated under the name Josepha.

You were the most fun and fantastic group of people we could have hoped to have in attendance. I’m sure you were aware that this was the inaugural WordCamp for our area and judging by the response we got from you, we have decided to do it again next year.
That’s right, we have already begun planning on WordCamp Kansas City 2012.
Some of the feedback we got was a request for more frequent posts here to keep people in the know. We will keep you updated and in the loop.
Since you are, after all, our entire reason for being.

A little over 12 months ago WordCamp Kansas City 2011 was initiated. Between working at our 9-5 jobs and doing fun events like Startup Weekend, South by Southwest (SxSw), and WordPressKC, a local user group for WordPress. The Organizers, Jacob McDaniel, Josepha Haden and Val Bontrager compiled their thoughts, ideas, and started the process of launching a WordCamp for the first time in Kansas City.
It has been a long road and it’s almost here, actually 11 days away. We have learned a lot of new and interesting information, not only about WordPress, WordCamp, WordPress.tv but also about ourselves. Continue reading more about each individual organizer and definitely follow their paths into the future.
