We\u2019re looking forward to having tons of great WordPress users in town for WordCamp Kansas City. Since the community is what makes WordPress so great, why not take advantage of our proximity and get together to add to the awesomeness?<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re a designer, developer, systems\/support specialist, or writer, there\u2019s a way for you to contribute:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019re a programmer, contribute code directly to core!*<\/li>\n<li>Write or update WordPress documentation and tutorials<\/li>\n<li>Create visual mockups of new features, or those being modified<\/li>\n<li>Help out with your knowledge of accessibility or other relevant standards<\/li>\n<li>Mobile developer? Help out with the apps!<\/li>\n<li>Answer questions on the forums and help other users or people who are new to WordPress<\/li>\n<li>Work on the wordpress.org website itself, including the plugin and theme repositories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People who come to Contributor Day will be 1000% focused on contributing to or learning to contribute to the WordPress project \u2014 although we have fun, this is a working event. If you\u2019ve been looking for an opening to add your contribution to WordPress, this is the perfect opportunity!<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll make sure the WiFi stays strong \u00a0and you make sure WordPress stays strong. See you at the there!<\/p>\n<h3>What to bring:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>laptop\u00a0or tablet<\/strong> is the only thing you really need.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to bring\u00a0a\u00a0<strong>power strip\u00a0and extension cord<\/strong> that could\u00a0come in handy, but we\u2019ll have some already there too.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0pair of <strong>headphones<\/strong>, if you plan to subtitle WordPress.tv videos.<\/li>\n<li>If you plan to work on code,\u00a0you can get a head start by setting up <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Varying-Vagrant-Vagrants\/VVV\">Varying Vagrant Vagrants<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/iandunn\/wordpress-meta-environment\">WordPress Meta Environment<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for a local development environment.<\/li>\n<li>*<strong>CODE CONTRIBUTORS\u00a0<\/strong>If you\u2019re planning on helping out with WordPress core code (writing patches, testing bugs on trunk, etc), then you\u2019ll need to get set up with a few things. To save time on the day, we <em>strongly<\/em> recommend that you <a href=\"http:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/handbook\/installing-wordpress-locally\/\">set WordPress up locally<\/a> on your laptop (and bring it!).
